Maternity Action is a newly established, national voluntary organisation working to end inequality and promote the health
and well-being of all pregnant women, their partners and children from before conception through to the child's early years.
We seek to reduce social exclusion through improvements in health and support services, employment rights, benefits, and the
broader social and economic environment.
We seek to reduce poverty and promote gender equality through improvements in employment rights and state benefits for pregnant
women and new parents.
We are working towards health care services which are woman-centred, culturally appropriate, and responsive to the needs of
all women, especially the most vulnerable.
We are working towards services in the community which effectively support those women and families which are most in need.
We work with and for women, their partners and children, from pregnancy through the child's early years.
Maternity Action was established in 2008, following the demise of the Maternity Alliance. We will take forward the work of
The Reaching Out Project, Medact.
